Hillsboro Homes For Sale

Probably one of the most anticipated neighborhoods in northern Shelby County, Hillsboro began construction in 2006. I can recall passing the neighborhood and having to take a quick detour just to see how far the development had progessed since my last visit! Heck, when we received the floor plans on the opening day, it was almost like Christmas! I spent the afternoon flipping through the different floor plans and illustrations highlighting features and jotting down certain aspects that I wanted to see in person. Now it was just a matter of time before a model would be ready.

Hillsboro is located off HWY 52 (Morgan Rd.) in Helena, just north of the Publix and Ace Hardware shopping plazas. After a short drive into the community, you will start to notice the homes underconstruction and finally enter the development itself. On the right is the office for the development, but you can tour the homes without having to sign in or ask permission.

The homes when you first enter Hillsboro are similar to homes available in Hoover's popular The Preserve subdivison. If you have visited The Preserve, you will recognize the Americana style of homes. Even though a new community, with not a tremendous amount of homes finished, it is easy to discern that Hillsboro is going to be something special.

The homes of Hillsboro in Helena are very attractive and look nice from the outside, but where they really shine is on the interior of the home. These really appear to be well built homes with plenty of attention to details. I, for one, personally like to look at the finish work. If the time was taken to finish the detail work, then odds are the time was taken to build the framing and every other aspect of the home. Of course, every now and again some builder ruins this threory, for the most part it holds true. (To be on the safe side though, we always recommend a home inspection. YES, EVEN ON NEW CONSTRUCTION!)

A few things I like to see are crown moulding, chair rails, other wood accents on the walls and trim work. Personally, I think these touches make a home look finished. These homes in the front of Hillsboro didn't disappoint in the least. I would definitely recommend taking the time to visit these homes if you are in the market, or even if looking to add some detail work to your current home for that matter.

As you drive through Hillsboro, the different sizes and styles of homes become apparent. Towards the back of the development, are the garden and patio style homes. Mainly consisting of one level homes, these homes are look nice both inside and out. Although the lots in this section are a little small, I found one or two that I preferred over the larger lots in the front. I am not sure what Hillsboro is planning in this back section, but there is substantially more privacy to be had in this section as opposed to the sections near the entrance of the subdivison. I sort of like how the smaller less expensive homes have, at least in my opinion, the better lots than the big fancy homes in the front! Strike one for the little guy!

Hillsboro is growing, and growing quick. If you can tolerate a little construcion, then I would look into Hillsboro as a possible place to purchase. With the many different floor plans and amenities offered, I am sure you will be able to find something that will suit your needs.

Hillsboro is located in Helena Alabama off HWY 52 (Morgan Road). To reach Hillsboro, take I-459 to Exit 6. Go South towards Helena. After going over The Cahaba River, you will pass the Helena Intermediate School on your right. After the bend in the road, Hillsboro will be on your left.
