Cheshire Parc is located off I-459 Exit 1 in McCalla, Alabama. Due to Cheshire Parc's location, this subdivision makes an ideal location for persons that work at the Mercedes Plant or in the Birmingham area. Offering townhomes, patio homes, and larger family homes, Cheshire Parc is providing a good selection of well built affordable housing for first time buyers or families looking to relocate to the area.

When I would commute between Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, I would notice a subdivision off the highway and think to myself, "Gosh, that's real close to road". So, initially I was a bit skeptical that the trip to Cheshire Parc would be worth while. But, boy am I glad I made the trip!

Why? Often times, we see affordable housing being offered with, in my opinion, sub par building quality with the excuse that the homes are modestly priced. Since I believe that regardless of price, the home should be built correctly, it was refreshing to see the homes of Cheshire Parc built along that line of thought.

Now, when you first enter Cheshire Parc, there is a junction to go left or right (actually forward as well, but the road was under construction.) To the left is a section of townhomes, to the right, single family homes. Since I was interested in viewing the homes, I ventured right.

The first thing I noticed...

Neighbors talking on the sidewalks, children playing in the yard, and a couple enjoying a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood. A home with a fantastic and beautifully landscaped yard. I must admit, the "too close to the road" mentality went right out the window! The sense of community just in the first few homes provided what so many neighborhoods lack, regardless of price...personality.

Already all warm and fuzzy, I found an open house and started with a walk around the perimeter. As I walked, I looked for obvious flaws. Since there wasn't anything glaring at me, I moved on the "tick-tack" items, but everything seemed to be in it's place.

Moving to the interior, I think what grabbed me most was the open layout. Sometimes patio homes tend to make me feel closed in, but the floorplans of Cheshire Parc are well laid out providing an impression of being in a large home while maintaining a smooth "flow" through the home. Although the proceeding is very important to me, what helps to separate Cheshire Parc homes even more from their contemporaries is the attention to detail and the quality of the finish work.

After visiting Cheshire Parc in person, I am glad that my haphazard drive-by observation didn't stop me from taking the time to visit this neighborhood.

Cheshire Parc is located in McCalla, Alabama off I-459 exit 1.
From Tuscaloosa: Take I 20/59 towards Birmingham. Take the I-459 Exit. Stay on I-459 to Exit 1. Go right at top of off ramp. Go to first traffic light. Go right. You will pass McAdory High School on your left. Cheshire Parc is about 1/2 mile past the high school.
From Birmingham: Take I-20/59 towards Tuscaloosa. Take the I-459 Exit (North) for Atlanta. (FYI... It is actually heading south at this point). Go to exit one. Go to first traffic light. Go right. You will pass McAdory High School on your left. Cheshire Parc is about 1/2 mile past the high school.
